WHAT IS THE ROMAN ROAD TO SALVATION?

The Roman empire was noted for its magnificent network of Roman roads.  This transportation system “provided efficient means for the overland movement of armies, officials and civilians.

The Roman Road to Salvation is also magnificent, but its destination is completely different: an eternity in Heaven through the believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as your only way to heaven.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
John 14:6

What is the Roman Road?

Romans Road lays out the plan of salvation through a series of Bible verses from the book of Romans. When arranged in order, these verses form an easy, systematic way of explaining the message of salvation.

The Roman Road is simple–and easy to travel.

The Roman’s Road:

“The Roman’s Road” is popular method of presenting the Gospel using only Scriptures from the Biblical Book of Romans. It is certainly an effective soulwinning tool which every believer should be well familiarized with.

Traveling the Roman Road to Eternal Salvation

1. We are all sinners.

“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
Romans 3:23

2. The penalty for sin.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 6:23

Death” in this case means eternal spiritual death; confinement to hell.

3. God loves you and has made a Way to escape the penalty for sin.

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Roman 5:8

4. What must we do we do to be saved?

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:13

5. Confess and believe on the name of Jesus Christ.

“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:9-10

6. What’s next?

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 12:1-2

7, DO NOT FORGET THE GOSPEL!

The gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto eternal salvation. (See the gospel at the end of this article).

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
-–Romans 1:16

Christianity, through the presence of the living Christ Jesus, “is designed not only to inform our judgments, but to reform our hearts and lives.”

Welcome to your new life!

What’s after salvation?

1. Baptism

Some denominations believe that baptism is a requirement for salvation.  This is a point of dispute.  In any case, it’s important to be baptized.  A believer should be baptized as soon as possible after salvation.

2. Read the Bible

Reading the Bible helps believers grow in faith.  This is extremely important.  God speaks to his children through His Word.

3. Pray

Prayer is talking with God.  Believers are not to memorize and recite prayers.  Talking with God is one of the most important things believers can do to keep their faith strong.

“But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.”
Matthew 6:7

“Pray without ceasing.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17

4. Get to a church that preaches the gospel of Jesus Christ

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.”

(NOTE: For the times in which we live, finding a good church will be next to impossible. New believers are therefore encouraged to find other believers to fellowship with.  Or better yet, share the gospel, make new converts and fellowship with them.)

New believers are encouraged, exhorted and edified when they assemble with others believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

5. Witness: Tell others of what Jesus has done for you.

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.  Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
Matthew 28:18-20

Not saved?  Not sure?

The gospel of Christ has the power to save you!

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Romans 1:16

THE GOSPEL

“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. ”
1 Corinthians 15:1-8
